Summary: Support CVT Jordan’s program development team with coordination, writing, and research for a project that enhances rehabilitation services for refugee survivors of torture, war trauma and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) living in Jordan. The intern will support the Senior Manager for Program Development to initiate new projects and launch a MHPSS social media campaign. The position duration is 3- to 6-month with a start date no later than January 15, 2022.
Job Responsibilities:
( 55% ) Social Media Strategy Development: Contribute to the development of a strategy to implement a social media campaign to raise awareness for mental health and psychosocial support services in Jordan. Tasks include scheduling posts, interview staff for content, write articles, and take videos/pictures.**
( 35% ) Partnership Coordination: Communicate with the team and potential partners to draft terms of reference and partnership agreements. Support discussions with local NGOs to determine effective areas of partnership.
( 10% ) Other Duties: Participate in other department and organization-wide activities, meetings and trainings. Complete administrative responsibilities including taking meeting notes. Perform other duties as assigned.
Goals:
By the end of your internship, our hope is that you will:
· Have a portfolio of a defined social media strategy, content, articles, and interviews.
· Develop understanding of the NGO landscape and funder networks in Jordan.
· Develop sensitivity to the concept of trauma-informed approaches to humanitarian and human rights work in Jordan. Deeper knowledge of the impact of trauma on the lives of survivors.
· Gain exposure to processes related to program development and proposals.
· Develop and apply skills in a professional work environment.
Qualifications:
Required education, experience, certificates, licenses or registrations
· Bachelor’s Degree in international studies, development, or related social science field(s)
· Experience writing in a professional capacity, such as grant writing and contracts
Preferred education, experience, certificates, licenses or registrations
· Have received or working on Master’s Degree in related field(s)
· Experience working in the public health or social work sectors
· Experience working at international civil society organizations
Competencies (knowledge, skills and abilities)
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word and Excel)
· Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills
· Excellent skills in organization, attention to detail and time management (including the ability to meet deadlines)
· Proficiency in Arabic and English
· Interest in or commitment to human rights
Work Environment:
· Due to COVID, the position will be partially virtual (email, Zoom, phone), and partially in a typical office environment
· Time spent on the computer is approximately 100%
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, of 10 to 15 pounds. The position requires a minimum 24 hrs of work per week.
Travel: Ability to travel to the CVT Jordan office in Amman as needed**
